  • The Detroit Institute of Arts will present Detroit Revealed—Photographs 2000-2010 from Oct. 16-April 8, 2012. The exhibition features Detroit-inspired photographs and video from contemporary artists.   • Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide recently launched a series of socially conscious themed events, "Meetings that Give Back and More... With Starwood." Options include Literacy Builders, where groups of up to 200 work in teams to build and stock bookcases and participate in a book drive to benefit a local charity for kids. Community HeART encourages creativity and teamwork among attendees while they construct a piece of art to give to a local organization. Tech Update

  • Unsocial is a new location-based mobile networking tool that lets meeting attendees connect with each other via integrated messaging and exchange information, or connect with them from within the app via instant message or a phone call. Other capabilities of the app, which integrates with LinkedIn, include accessing conference session schedules and speaker bios, as well as linking into Facebook and Twitter streams for the event.   • For groups interested in sustainable meetings, the TripSketch Green Book app covers more than 80 cities in North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania, detailing eco-friendly hotels, attractions, dining options, tours and transport. Attendees can use the Green Book as a mobile city guide to browse for nearby attractions and activities, as well as record their plans on their smartphone calendar and get directions.
